NOSSCR’s annual conference in Nashville just wrapped, leaving a wealth of valuable insights for Social Security disability representatives and advocates. Industry leaders packed the program with insightful presentations, guiding attendees through the complexities of the claims process, boosting their win rates, and offering strategies for efficient firm management and client acquisition.
This year’s success wasn’t just a stroke of luck. A heartfelt thank you goes out to NOSSCR’s dedicated members, the esteemed presenters who shared their knowledge, exhibitors showcasing their products, and sponsors that included Disability Law Marketing, who made it all possible.
The conference kicked off with a Bootcamp and staff-focused sessions, setting a solid foundation for thriving practices in Social Security disability law. Breakout sessions saw high attendance, allowing members to connect with regional peers and discuss specific issues and successes. The first day concluded with a vibrant welcome reception hosted by NextGen, followed by the Scully Networking & Awards Dinner and a surprise visit from Commissioner O’Malley.
Day 2 saw attendees in the mentor/mentee program connected over breakfast before diving into the General Session, featuring Commissioner O’Malley, OHO leadership, and Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA). The afternoon included presentations on emerging technology, working with veteran clients, representing the disabled, and navigating unique ethical challenges. The Legal Services Meeting offered nonprofit and legal aid members a platform to connect and discuss their unique challenges.
Day 3 dove into three sessions of continuing legal education, which gave updates on litigation, ethics, other current SSA issues, and a PAC and Government Affairs briefing by David Camp and Betsy Osborn. The afternoon was filled with engaging sessions and intriguing exhibitor spotlights. The day wrapped up with the President’s Reception, where attendees enjoyed networking and live music.
On Day 4, the symposium featured an esteemed panel of speakers who provided an in-depth look into overpayments and the Ticket to Work program. NOSSCR encouraged members to commit to taking on at least one overpayment case this year, and the support provided during the symposium led to an overwhelmingly positive response.
The week in Nashville was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedicated NOSSCR members and volunteers who made it possible.
